Training Program Service Delivery:

For all levels of government: Municipal, Regional, Provincial, Federal

Available for purchase by all levels of government, Civil Protection Youth Canada's training program establishes the foundation needed to strengthen Canada's disaster response system with scalable citizen capacity.

Our program creates 10-50 volunteer service positions per community. Our diverse group of volunteers, aged 12 to 79, can opt for training in civil protection skills, empowering them to both educate others and respond to disasters (for those 18 and older). They may also join the Community Action Team, focusing on identifying and preparing for threats to collective safety and well-being, ensuring an active role in enhancing community resilience.

This program increases individual and community hazard and risk awareness and disaster resilience at the local level; if extended regionally, provincially, or nationally, it results in the capacity needed for large scale disaster response operations.

Central to our strategy is the youth leadership opportunity to engage and train peers and adults, a step that not only addresses current needs but also ensures future capacity for mitigating and responding to disasters. Our training covers essential areas like flood protection, urban search and rescue, infrastructure repair, integration of spontaneous volunteers, and preparing participants for a variety of disaster scenarios.
By collaborating with international experts and adapting best practices to local needs, we further elevate the effectiveness of our program.

This service delivery approach positions Civil Protection Canada as a key resource for governments seeking to build capacity and invest in the safety, preparedness, disaster readiness and resilience of their communities.

Activities:

For youth, adults, schools, youth serving organizations, and communities

Communities in which our program is installed, benefit from the activity offer designed for a wider as well as younger audience (8+). Our social enterprise aspect ensures revenue creation to support and enhance the training program delivery. This provides our volunteers with an on-going opportunity to use their knowledge and skills by teaching individuals how to help themselves and others, before or during a disaster.

Training youth in an age appropriate, fun, and playful way, to anticipate, respond to, and remain in control of challenging situations, is empowering and significantly mitigates the negative impact of disaster events.

Our activities have a strong focus on promoting healthy outdoor activity, nurturing a deep connection with nature, fostering a sense of team spirit, and providing hands-on skills with everyday applicability, all aimed at strengthening confidence, resourcefulness, and overall well-being. This includes skill development and team building workshops, day camp, disaster resilience days, handicrafts days, wilderness field trip destinations, and themed nature excursions.
